6th May 2011- All Set for Cadwell

Cadwell Park on Sunday the 8th May will be the first race in which our car has competed, since 1997. The team has been working hard since September 2010 for this moment, not to mention the massive amount of work put in over the last few months producing an entirely new aerodynamic package.

The team returned at the beginning of last week to a stripped car (see the last news article), knowing that it would have to be fully built up and on the trailer by what is today. As always the team has pulled together and worked extremely hard to bring the car into the best shape it has ever been in. The diffuser has been completely re-mounted and painted, the front wings have been painted and the rear wing has been further developed and re-mounted.

The finishing touch, which was a moment of pride for the whole team, was the application of the race number stickers; number 59. The five representing the 'S' from SMU and the 9 being Tim's lucky number!

The team will begin their long haul up to Cadwell Park tomorrow morning. Chief Engineer Harley Gasson gives his pre-race views:

"Firstly I'm very proud of the team for putting the time and effort in to get the car 100% complete for this weekend. We've had assignment deadlines and a lot of coursework to be getting on with, but we've all managed to find the time to get this car race ready. I am very happy with the car and I believe we are going to be a strong contender for a good result at Cadwell. Both our car and our driver are more than capable of this. Thankyou to the team once again and to the university for providing us with the facilities and support to get this car out there, in competitive racing. Another massive thankyou to all the companies,  individuals and fans who are supporting us throughout this season. We hope we can put on a good show for you!"
