amperSAND is a forum and meeting place for professionals and enthusiasts working in all aspects of digital media. It is closely associated with SAND, linked through its aims and function to engender innovative ideas, business collaboration and the convergence of digital technologies.amperSAND welcomes businesses, students, independent artists and people with an interest in animation, computer games, digital art, and other production areas in these sectors, to it's monthly, evening, forums held in Swansea. Each amperSAND event focuses on a particular field - from animation to web design, digital music to multimedia with speakers from the industry and the opportunity for discussion. Now in its fifth year, past amperSAND presenters have included Aardman Animation, Lionhead Studios, the BBC, Paul Granjon (artist), Calon TV, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, MPC and many others of equal calibre. Both SAND and amperSAND are initiated and organised by Swansea Metropolitan University's School of Digital Media, who run a raft of programmes in computer animation, creative computer games design, multimedia, interactive media and music technology from HND, BA, BSc to Masters level. The next round of amperSAND events start up in the Autumn, on Wednesday 21st October with a selection of innovative, high growth businesses from @Wales Digital Media Initiative, the specialist business incubator. @Wales provides specialized business development support for early stage businesses; and is a part of the incubation chain strategy in Wales to accelerate the growth of SMEs. amperSAND is held monthly (breaking during the summer months) in Swansea, Wales at Swansea Metropolitan University's Dynevor Centre for Art, Design and Media .
