Education Research Group/ Using ICT in Support of Learning and Teaching The group were successful in gaining funding in the Welsh extension of the TLRP project (£119,000) for the Interactive teaching and ICT (ITICT) Project, directed by Kennewell (http://www.tlrp.org/proj/documents/Kennewell.pdf). The project team is conducting empirical research in KS1, KS2 and KS3, (a) to compare the learning outcomes of effective teaching in mathematics, science and languages using digital and non-digital tools, (b) to analyse and theorise the links between interactive teaching practices and improved learning outcomes when ICT is used in classroom settings, (c) to analyse changes in teachers' pedagogical practice as a result of designing interactive teaching strategies and engaging in reflective dialogue in relation to ICT tools for teaching and learning. The group have focused on pedagogies associated with the use of interactive white boards (IWBs). Papers on the effective use of IWBs have been published by the group in refereed journals and at refereed conferences. More details of the project and its work can be found at: http://www.interactive-teaching.org.uk/index.html. The group aims to recruit at least four PhD students in the coming year. Staff participating in this research group include: Professor John Parkinson |
