Ruth Robinson Lecturer Ruth studied for a BA in Photography in the Arts here at Swansea, and holds the MPhil for her research through practice titled "Face to Face: A Philosophical Discourse and Evaluation of the Role of the ‘Compassionate' Image in Photography" Her teaching responsibilities include BA Photojournalism, MA Project Seminars, and Enterprise Studies. She is also Photography Coordinator on the Arts in Action Project and a Student Pastoral Care Supporter. and works for the Open College of the Arts as a Distance Learning Tutor in Photography in the Arts, Digital Photography, Social Documentary and Landscape Photography . She has been commissioned to work alongside various charities in Uganda, Romania, Bulgaria, Belarus and Brazil, and also with the British Red Cross. She also engaged in a participatory project called `face to face` which dealt with the issue of ‘empowering' photography aiming to link photographic ‘subjects' with the action of taking pictures. This project ran in a number of places including Bulgaria, Uganda, Brazil, Wales, Maidstone in Kent, Northern Ireland, Birmingham, Reading, and is currently running in Brighton Research Interests Ruth is currently working on a proposal for her PhD which extends the MPhil research.
