I taught German and French in secondary schools in Maidstone, Mellendorf, near Hanover, Germany, and Swindon for 17 years, followed by three years as an Advisory Teacher for the county of Wiltshire, before joining the Education Department at Swansea University. I transferred to SMU in 2006 where I am Senior Lecturer in Education, Modern Foreign Languages.
I currently teach on the PGCE Modern Foreign Languages course, supervise MA(Ed) dissertations and I am coordinator for the PGCE Secondary Professional Studies programme.
I have written on a range of topics in the field of modern foreign language education, contributing chapters to books, co-authoring journal articles, writing school course materials and reviewing for the Times Educational Supplement. I am currently reviews editor for Language Learning Journal. I would welcome enquiries from potential research students in the areas of ICT and language learning, grammar, and the methodology of language teaching and learning
