Rhian Pole originally graduated with a B.Sc. in Environmental Pollution Science from the University of Glamorgan, Pontypridd, UK in 1997 and after a further period of study completed a B.Sc. in Computing and Information Systems from the University of Wales, Swansea Institute of Higher Education, UK in 2005. In 2007 she obtained a PGCE(PCET) and in 2009 an M.Sc. in e-Commerce from Swansea Metropolitan University, Swansea, UK. She is currently undertaking Ph.D research into the use of social networking applications for structuring learning content.

She is currently the Year One Tutor for the B.Sc. Computing Portfolio at the School of Applied Computing at Swansea Metropolitan University, Swansea UK where she has worked since 2005. She previously worked in the environmental industry, collecting and analysing data for Trueflow Surveys Ltd, Bridgend and Titan Environmental Surveys (previously part of Hyder Laboratories and Sciences, Bridgend).

Rhian is a member of the British Computer Society (MBCS) and belongs to the Learning and Development, e-Learning and Business Information Systems special interest groups. She is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors.
