James Moxey trained at UMIST. He was a Research Director at the William Lee Innovation Centre, University of Manchester before joining Swansea Metropolitan University in 2003. He worked with Professor Andrea Liggins to develop and secure funds to establish the Swansea Centre for Innovation in Photography and Video (SCI-PV) and the Creative Industries Research and Innovation Centre (CIRIC). He became a Research Director in CIRIC in August 2005.

Research supervision, examining and other indicators of research involvement
Moxey oversees research in CIRIC, particularly in the areas of Applied Arts, Public Art and Regeneration. His role is to initiate, develop and oversee research projects that benefit Institute Staff, Students and the wider community of practitioners in Wales.

Moxey is a member of the Faculty's Research and Postgraduate Committee.

Research interests include:

Some recent publications:

  • `Breuddwyd Macsen Wledig` - a collaboration between CIRIC staff (Angove, Butler, Lewis, Moxey), Brenda Oakes and the architectural practice of Hyde and Hyde which won the Landmark Wales design competition for Dowlais Top, an important transition point between the Heads of the Valleys in South Wales and the Brecon Beacons (2007).

  • Low impact settlement - an architectural collaboration between CIRIC staff (Angove, Butler, Lewis, Moxey), AIR Architects (Swansea) and Lammas for a sustainable design of a low impact settlement in West Wales (2007).
