You need JavaScript enabled to view it Brief Biography I obtained the BSc in Computer Information and Network System in North China Electric Power University, Beijing in 2001. I came to UK in Aug 2001, and got MSc in Telecommunication and Information Systems in 2002 in Electronic Systems Engineering Department which has been named to School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering in University of Essex. Upon the graduation I was granted a full PhD scholarship by the department and the university, so I stayed in this country to pursue a doctorate degree. In 2006 I finished my PhD thesis, titled "Control Protocol for Optical Packet Switched Local Area Network". I got my PhD degree in Electronic Systems Engineering in 2007. Currently I am working as a full-time lecturer in School of Applied Computing in Faculty of Applied Design and Engineering in Swansea Metropolitan University. I am a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). I am the member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Information Systems and Social Change (IJISSC) from IGI Publishing, International Journal of Communication Networks and Information Security (IJCNIS), and the MASAUM Journal of Computing (MJC). I have chaired a couple of IEEE international workshops and conference sessions in the past few years. I am also a peer reviewer for IEEE Communication Letters. Research Projects Automated Sensing Technologies for Coastal Monitoring (ASTEC). It was a TSB-funded project which involved the collaboration of Swansea Metropolitan University, Wireless Fibre System Technologies, Vale Port Ltd. The project aimed to deploy a novel marine wireless sensor network using RF electromagnetic communication technology on the sea bed to enable the gathering of data and to consequently quantify the effects of coastal erosion beneath the sea surface. I was responsible for investigation and comparison of wireless sensor network protocols, modelling and simulation. Tool used: OPNET. Smoothed Optical ATD Packet Switching (SOAPS). I participated in a DTI-EPSRC co-funded project SOAPS which involves collaboration among several entities, such as Intel Research Group, University of Cambridge, Intense Photonics Ltd, and University of Essex. I was in charge of designing a network control protocol for the optical switched LAN as well as the evaluation of the network using OPNET Modeler. The research was carried out under the guidance of Dr. David K. Hunter and Prof. Ian D. Henning. Multi-wavelength Labels for Optical Packet Switching. This was a postgraduate dissertation which investigated novel labelling schemes for optical packet switching and used VPI as the simulation software. The work was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Mike O'Mahony in Photonic Network Group in University of Essex.
