Ray obtained a first Class Honours degree in Applied Chemistry, followed by a PhD in Chemistry from Cambridge University. He was previously a Research Fellow in the University of Toronto and the University of St Andrews. He joined Swansea Metropolitan University in 1979 and is currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Industrial Design. He has published over twenty papers and is very experienced at PhD supervision and examining.
