Chris House is a member of the Coastal Management research group and has a BSc (Hons) in Geographical Science, an MA in Western European Studies and an MPhil (Bristol). Between 1990 and 1994 he was a Teaching Fellow in Human Geography at Cheltenham & Gloucester College and in 1994 joined Swansea Metropolitan University. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Built & Natural Environment in the Faculty of Applied Design & Engineering, where he is Programme Director for the MSc Environmental Conservation & Management and is a supervisor for MSc dissertations and a PhD advisor.

Chris House is a committee member of the Royal Geographical Society /Institute of British Geographers, Coastal and Marine Working Group and Planning and Environmental Research Group. He is also a member of NATUR, an organisation supported by CCW in collaboration with Universities and educational establishments in Wales, which aims to establish an environmental conservation professional body. Other academic memberships include Naurcrates Conservation, Rome, and KEF funded sustainable construction, project member. He has also coordinated the BA/BSc Environmental Conservation and MSc Environmental Conservation and Management programme validations and been external validator on BSc (Hons) Geography with Environmental Studies / Marine Studies/Sustainability at Southampton Solent University. His external collaborations have included an EU Socrates Intensive Programme in European Integrated Coastal Zone Management with Akdeniz University, Turkey, Southampton Solent University, University College Cork, University College Malta and the University of Madrid.
His main research area is coastal management strategies and the priorities for ICZM within Europe and particularly South Wales. This research is applied to various users of the coastal zone including: surfers, kite surfers, people with learning disabilities and tourists. His other research interests have been Implementation theory and its application to various policy areas and the pedagogy of geography.
