Research, in all of its manifestations, but especially of an applied nature or comprising professional practice, is strongly encouraged. For Research Assessment Exericse purposes we have taken a focussed approach, but excellent work is undertaken in every area of the institution. We regard this research as important in its own right and to underpin our undergraduate and Masters teaching.

It is our particular wish to increase the number of our research students both part-time and full-time and both from the UK and internationally. To this end, we have appointed Research Directors in each Faculty and are establishing a series of Research Centres.
