Tuition Fees and Bursaries 2012 PDF Print E-mail

Full-Time Undergraduate Fees:

All courses (other than Art and Design) - £8,500

Art and Design courses - £8,750

All tuition fees are covered by student loans which do not have to be repaid until you have graduated and are earning over £21,000 a year. Distance bursaries of £500 and £1,000 are available to any full-time undergraduate student whose home address is 45 miles or more away from the University. Eligible Welsh and non-UK European Union domiciled students will be entitled to receive a Welsh Government Tuition Fee Grant to cover fees above £3,465 per annum. This Grant is non-means-tested and does not need to be repaid. This means students from Wales and the EU will only need to pay £3,465 in fees in 2012.

Distance Travel Bursary

This bursary is aimed at helping those who have to take up residential accommodation in Swansea. This non-means-tested bursary is available to all full-time undergraduate students whose home address is 45 miles or more away from the University's Mount Pleasant campus as defined by the RAC Route Planner.

The following bursary rates will apply:

45 miles or more - £500 per annum

70 miles or more - £1,000 per annum

The bursary is paid annually, is non-means-tested and does not need to be repaid.

Assembly Learning Grant

A non-repayable, means tested Assembly Learning Grant of up to £5,000 is available to eligible students from Wales. Please visit: www.studentfinancewales.co.uk for further details. Non-repayable, means tested grants are also available to students from England and other parts of the UK. Please see the relevant weblink below for further details.

Full-Time Undergraduate Students from Outside Europe

The overseas undergraduate fee is to be confirmed.

Full-Time PGCE Home and EU

Primary and Secondary £9,000

This fee is covered by a student loan which does not have to be paid back until you are in employment and earning over £21,000. Incentive grants available in Wales for new eligible students on PGCE Secondary and Primary courses in 2012 are as follows:

These incentives will be variable depending on degree qualification. Eligible postgraduate students with a first class degree will recieve the highest funding levels, with progressively lower amounts for those with a 2:1 or 2:2.
