The HND Technical Theatre programme is designed for those students who are seeking employment in the industry as technicians, designers, stage managers and production managers. The course gives you a broad range of skills in all of these disciplines, allowing you to develop an awareness as well as experience of the many roles that are available in the field. You will undertake units in lighting operation and design, sound operation and design, workshop constructional skills, stage management, set and costume design, as well as developing your skills in writing and presentation. You will work as a member of the team in managing and running the on-site performance venues, liaising and working with external companies, as well as for in-house productions. You will work on a number of productions, as well as non theatrical events requiring technical support in a variety of ways. As part of the Showcase Festival, students have had the opportunity to work in a variety of professional venues including The Grand Theatre Swansea,Taliesin, Swansea, The Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, The Helix Theatre, Dublin and The Project Arts Centre, Dublin. We are fortunate to have links with Volcano Theatre Company. A number of students over the years have been selected to work with Volcano on professional productions, a relationship which offers our students invaluable experience of working in a highly regarded internationally acclaimed contemporary theatre company. Students also have the opportunity to achieve certification on the PASMA course - the tower training certificate which is a professional industry standard and is valid for five years. |
