Challenge ♦ Explore ♦ CreateWhat the Course OffersThe BA (Hons) Performing Arts programme offers you a wealth of opportunities to develop your practical and academic skills in the exploration and understanding of theatre and performing arts. You will be encouraged and supported in your quest to become an independent practitioner, skilled and focused in your commitment to the value and significance of the drama process and performance. The industry is a very broad and varied one and our degree programme aims to prepare you to find your place within it: starting your career; undertaking further intensive training; or engaging in postgraduate study. The course is essentially practical in nature but with an academic foundation so that your practical skills are grounded in theoretical understanding. Friendly and helpful support for the demands of the programme is available to all students in all aspects of your work through the Tutorial provision, Study Support, formally identified individual learning requirements, excellent library services and I.T facilities. Course PhilosophyThrough the exploration of the Performing Arts, students will acquire practical and academic skills to become independent creative practitioners in a range of social and vocational contexts, and to challenge boundaries of performance. FacilitiesThe School of Performance and Literature provides conventional seminar rooms and lecture halls but also provides specialist facilities: - Townhill Theatre - flexible performance space with sophisticated control equipment and student-run box office - Studio performance space - Specialist studios for voice, movement and rehearsal work - Excellent Library stock of books, journals and online resources |
