UCAS Course Code: H674 Duration: 3 Years Admissions Tutor: Andy Baker Programme DesignThis degree scheme is designed to produce suitably equipped graduates to design and programme applications within the rapidly expanding computer games industry within the UK. The programme includes the traditional concepts, principles and techniques of software development, but also promotes the development of creative and entertaining games. In addition, a number of modules within the scheme give an appreciation of the skills and requirements of the roles of other members of a multi-disciplinary games development team. By our commitment to provide many of the skills used by developers of cutting edge games, we expand the opportunities for our students in the games industry. The final year project provides the opportunity for you to develop sophisticated games to showcase your abilities. Programme StructureEach year of the programme will consist of a number of compulsory core modules being supplemented by elective modules to ensure a total of 120 credits per year is achieved. The final year will contain a substantial project providing you with the chance to consolidate your studies. Employment OpportunitiesThe programme provides the knowledge and skills needed to prepare graduates to enter a career in computer games programming. Graduates will also be equipped to pursue careers in a range of computing fields within the IT industry. Programme StructureYear 1 Computer Systems Year 2 Academic Seminar Year 3 Advanced AI Entry Requirements200 UCAS tariff points to include two C grades at A-Level/AVCE; or Other qualifications deemed to be equivalent by the Academic Board will also be considered. To be read in conjunction with this page Advanced EntryApplicants with an HND in Computer Studies, or a qualification considered to be equivalent, may be admitted to Year 2 of the degree scheme at the discretion of the School. It is expected that such students will have gained several Merits in their HND qualification. Applicants will be interviewed to assess their suitability to proceed to an Honours degree.
