Yang has found his time studying Automotive Engineering to be extremely interesting and rewarding. One of the reasons he chose SMU was due to the reputation of the School of Automotive Engineering and the success of the racing team in the Formula student competition (the biggest student motorsport competition in the world)

"SMU is famous for its school of automotive engineering, and the ranking of the Formula Student team in last year's competition was top ten in the world, second in UK. I love my school, and I like the comprehensive teaching, covering a wide range of aspects including engine safety, engine structure design and computational methods. Through studying the different modules I have an ability to design a normal engine body by myself, which gives me a massive sense of achievement. I really enjoy the learning process".

Yang feels that Swansea has been a great place to study "In my opinion, Swansea is a good place to live, except the rain! There is good public security, a beautiful beach and friendly people. My classmates and my teachers are very kind, they often supply tremendous help with my studies and assignments".
His top tips to any student interested in studying within the School of Automotive Engineering are "you have to be passionate about motorsport, be prepared for hard work, don't be shy and make sure you ask questions, everyone is very friendly".
