chloe profileChloe is in the final year of her Marketing degree after previously studying for two years at Wuhan University in the Hubei Province of the People's Republic of China, which has an institutional partnership with Swansea Metropolitan University.

Chloe feels that her time here has been life changing, she says "since coming to Swansea I have learnt to be independent. I came all the way from China to a strange country where the language is not my first language. Initially it was difficult to adjust and I did feel lonely. However, through my continuous efforts I am now able to take care of myself and manage my studies. In addition I have made a lot of friends".

In comparison to Wuhan, Chloe has found Swansea quite a different environment in which to study "Swansea is a small city. It is a place of learning which is good for meditation, where you can slow down and not encounter congested traffic, the air is fresh and makes it easy to enjoy learning". She has even got used to the weather! "Many people said they do not like the weather in Swansea, but I still like it here, whether it's sunny, snowy or windy!".

The provision of English Language support for international students has been invaluable for Chloe. "The Student Services Department has a specific programme to provide English lessons and study skill sessions, students can always get the appropriate help".
Class sizes are also a lot smaller than Chloe is used to "this allows us to have more opportunity to interact with other students and the lecturer, these experiences are a very important part of learning". Additionally she has found the teaching facilities to be first rate "they have the most modern, the latest teaching facilities and equipment. There are many good teachers who are in the business, trade and education and are very experienced".
