Library and Learning Resources
When you become a student at Swansea Metropolitan University, you will be able to use any of the three libraries on the main campuses at Mount Pleasant, Dynevor and Townhill. Although each library caters primarily for the study requirements of the Schools or Centres in its immediate area, all facilities are available to you, regardless of your particular study programme. There are over 200,000 books in stock as well as over one thousand printed journal titles, newspapers and DVDs. There is an online Library Catalogue which allows you to search for books and journals as well as renew your loans or reserve items which are not immediately available. Librarians are available to provide assistance with enquiries and deliver information skills training, including an introduction to resources at the beginning of the academic year. Self-issue and self-return machines are available for use and the Library has a variety of study spaces. Colour and monochrome photocopiers, scanners and printers are provided for copying material within the limits of copyright law. A wide range of electronic resources including journal articles and e-books are available from the Library web-pages. Students have the facility to access many of these resources from any ‘off-campus' PC simply by providing their University-provided credentials.
Computing Facilities
Open Access PCs are available in all three libraries; in addition there is a dedicated computer suite available in the Thompson Building on the Mount Pleasant Campus which offers extended opening hours. All our PCs offer a range of general purpose packages and have internet connectivity. Printing provision is available in all areas. Technical queries and support to users is provided by a small staff of technicians.
