About the Programme

The BA International Travel & Tourism Management degree provides its graduates with a broad-based knowledge of international tourism within the context of the business environment and gives its graduates the relevant skills and abilities for purposeful employment within this rapidly expanding industry. This programme suits those who prefer to consider tourism and business organisations in an international context, and combines skills relating to global tourism and destination management, international travel operations, hospitality, marketing, management, human resources, customer care, finance, tourism management, sustainability, tour operations/management, and travel agencies. Students will undertake a range of tasks associated with tourism organisations (including travel agencies, tour operators, attractions, theme parks, accommodation providers, transport operators, culture & heritage organisations, tourist boards and hospitality businesses) - and will be involved in developing solutions to commercial problems and opportunities. In year 2 students will undertake an applied industry placement within a tourism based organisation to support learning and career development

Programme Structure

Throughout the three years of the programme you study a broad range of business subjects covering the core functional disciplines of international tourism management. In your second and final years there is increased flexibility with the option to choose elective modules (or a dissertation) in subjects that are of particular interest to you.

Career prospects

Graduates would have many career opportunities which may have lead from placement opportunities undertaken during the second year of the programme. Students currently enjoy working within both the public and private sectors. This programme is suitable for those who wish to develop a specialism after a general business tourism education at postgraduate level; for those who wish to become self employed or who wish to follow a career in teaching.
