UCAS Course Code: N820 Duration: 3 Years or 4 Years Sandwich Admissions Tutor: Steve Osborne Programme DesignThe BA Events Management degree provides its graduates with a broad-based knowledge of events within the context of the private, public and third sectors and gives its graduates the relevant skills and abilities for purposeful employment within this rapidly expanding industry. This programme will suit those who prefer to learn a broad range of tourism, events and business skills relating to event organisation and management, sports events management, impacts and development of festivals and events, tourism marketing and management, customer care, hospitality, culture, heritage and arts management, human resource management, general management and finance. Students will be involved in developing solutions to problems through a variety of learning strategies. In year 2 students will undertake an applied industry placement within an events-based organisation to support learning and career development. Programme StructureThroughout the three years of the programme you study a broad range of business subjects covering the core functional disciplines of event management. In your second and final years there is increased flexibility with the option to choose elective modules (or a dissertation) in subjects that are of particular interest to you.
All modules carry 20 credits, apart from the applied industrial placement for leisure, events, tourism & sport at level 5 and dissertation at level 6 which are worth 40 credits.
Career prospectsGraduates would have many career opportunities working within events and festival management, public and private sector tourism organisations (attractions, heritage, community tourism agencies and tourist boards), convention management and conference organisations. This programme will be suitable for those who wish to develop a specialism after a broad tourism events-based education; for those who wish to become self employed or who wish to follow a career in teaching.
