This is a Joint Honours degree which combines Drama and Psychology on an equal basis.

Programme Design: Drama

The Drama component offers you the opportunity to explore your critical understanding of the subject in a manner that will complement your work in the Psychology component with which it would be combined. It is a selection of modules with some elective choices designed as to allow those with an interest in Drama as a means for developing critical understanding of the world but without the level of focus on performance skills. The elective choices are designed to offer some specialised focus on the disciplines of applied performance practice, directing or arts management which may appeal to those Psychology students who might consider following career routes in such areas.

Though Drama as a component has no specific vocational outcome it does

act as a platform for a number of graduate career routes, these include Teaching, Community Arts, Arts Marketing and Management, Directing, Theatre in Education and Arts Enterprise.

Programme Design: Psychology

The Psychology component, which is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), aims to provide you with the knowledge and skills required to apply psychological principles in order to enhance both individual and organisational well-being.

The degree programme is suitable for school leavers and those who have left education and now wish to return and move into a social science area. This combination of students and an experienced, research-active lecturing team creates a stimulating learning environment that enhances students' enjoyment of the course. You will learn about different theories of psychology, how these can be  applied to everyday life and will be actively engaged in the School's diverse research interests.

The School encourages a friendly communicative approach to education. Small group work is used to consolidate knowledge that is presented in lectures. In addition, lecturers are approachable and are available to answer queries. The aims of the School include achieving the best quality of teaching and learning for students, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving. The dedicated psychology facilities and positive atmosphere contribute to achieving this goal, and the learning experience for students is enhanced by having a team of lecturers working closely together, as well as with students themselves.
